The results are in!

On December 2, 2024 the Town of Barrhead held a public vote to determine whether or not to pass the Neutrality Bylaw. The townspeople voted 653 to 492 in favor of the Bylaw!

The Neutrality Team's Petition

A Neutrality Bylaw would seek to accomplish the following:

-  Crosswalks should only be painted in the standard white striped pattern between two parallel lines
-  Only national, provincial, and municipal flags should be flown
-  There should be no decorations on Town crosswalks or displaying of flags supporting "political, social, or religious movements or commercial entities"
-  No grandfathering of any existing crosswalks or flags that contravene the new bylaw should be authorized

Who We Are

We are a group of men and women from Barrhead, Alberta, who love our town. While we very much support the freedoms of beliefs and speech and expression of all people (and are gratefully expressing it in this petition), we do not want our government to be wielded as a tool on behalf of some and against others.
